MENTOR MENTEE INFORMATION
Aim
- When mentees define their goals for the mentorship it helps to set the tone & agenda for meetings. The goals should guide the mentoring relationship. In fact, when a mentee has shared their goals with a mentor it makes them more likely to achieve the goal as they feel more accountable.
- Mentoring seeks to build wisdom – the ability to apply skills, Knowledge & experience to new situations & processes.
- Coaching – The focus is on meeting very specific objectives within a set period of time. Coaching is mainly concerned with performance & the development of certain skills.
Objective
- Define eligibility & ensure a mutual commitment.
- Set pragmatic goals & actions
- Establish meeting cadence.
- Monitor & evaluate results.
- Establish closure or next steps, post assignment.
Role of Mentor
- The mentor’s role is to teach, guide & help shape the professional growth & learning of mentee & to serve as a positive role model.
